All you have to do is turn on the evening news to be reminded of the hard economic times we are living through. If your family is like most, you are looking for ways to reduce your monthly expenses without giving up all the things you enjoy. Given this, many people are taking a hard look at the $65 – $125 monthly cable or satellite bills they are paying. The good news is, there is a way to eliminate this expense and still enjoy thousands of great TV channels. Believe it or not, you can watch TV on line and enjoy sports programming, your favorite shows, news and hard to find international programs. The question is which of the many TV on PC software packages available is best for you. After a ton of research and investigating, I went with Satellite Direct for a number of reasons.
With no monthly bills, subscription services, complicated hardware to install, and 24 hour a day 7 days a week unlimited access, is it any wonder that Internet Media Magazine hailed Satellite Direct as “unequivocally the best TV to PC software on the net”? Beware, the internet is full of copycat so called great deals offering you the ability to watch TV on line. But many of these copycat services have a ton of hidden fee that can result a higher bill than your current cable company. With Satellite Direct there is only a one time fee ever – that’s it that’s all! Read the rest of this entry »

The internet has changed the way we do a number of things. Think about it! With the advancement of the internet we really don’t have to leave home for much these days. We can order just about everything online from groceries to cars. We can download musicand games and even watch TV on computers. You may have heard of software that is now available that allows you to watch TV on PC. If you are at all like me, you may have some mixed emotions about using this new technology. The thought of getting rid of my cable company and their one hundred plus dollar monthly bill is a very exciting prospect! The idea of packing up a laptop to watch TV on my PC from anywhere in the world! WOW! It doesn’t get much better than that. But when I thought about only being able to watch TV on my PC in my office – well frankly that was not all that exciting to me. This article will show you how I got around watching TVon my PC, but I still don’t pay a monthly bill to my old cable company.
The advantages of getting rid of my cable company and being able to watch TV on my PC were obvious. No monthly free, 24/7 access, over 3,500 channels including some international ones, no crazy hardware to install, easy to download software. But I must say what I learned next was by far the most exciting part. I did not have to watch TV on my PC – with just one cable that can be purchased online or at your local Radio Shack you can watch your PC on your TV. That’s right! Depending on your hardware configuration, you may need two cables. Read the rest of this entry »

In case you have not run across anyone else doing this, let me be the first to tell you – Yes, I do watch TV on my PC. Keep reading and I will share with you the three ways I have watched TV on my PC.
This method is completely free and does not require the downloading of any software or purchase any hardware. There are a number of online TV sites that are streaming satellite TV channels for free. Most of these sites will offer hundreds of programs to choose from and many of them offer foreign language programming as well. The upside as I mentioned is that the service is completely free, however there is a downside. The biggest obstacle that I found with free internet TV websites is that they can be slow. Their servers are sometimes overwhelmed by the huge number of free online TV requests from around the world. Of the sites I used, Hulu.com was by far the best. The site is designed to be very user friendly and easy to use. You may however find that not all episodes of the programs want are available. It is also worth mentioning that Hulu.com has plans to move to a subscription site model were some programs will be free but you will need to pay a small monthly fee ( $4.99) to have access to everything.
